Pentland Homes Sponsor Canterbury 10 Mile Race
Local Kent housebuilders, Pentland Homes, is sponsoring the Canterbury 10-Mile Road Race, organised by Invicta East Kent Athletics club. The race will bring together members of the community to raise money for both Invicta East Kent Athletics Club and Pilgrims Hospices, a charity that provides skilled and compassionate end of life care to individuals, their carers and families across east Kent.
The sold-out race will take place on Sunday 26th January 2020, attracting 1,500 runners from across the South East, to the start line at Canterbury Christ Church University Sports Centre. The spectacular Kent Downs will provide the backdrop for the runners as they navigate the route.
A generous donation will be made from the event to Pilgrims Hospices, East Kent’s largest hospice charity, who rely on the generosity of the local community to allow them to provide their services free of charge. Operating for over 35 years, the charity has made an invaluable difference in the lives of people across the community and their families, helping them to face life-limiting illnesses.
One of the first long distance events in the running calendar, the Canterbury 10-Mile Road Race is a fantastic testing ground for those looking for their first challenging race of the year and excellent preparation for runners attempting longer distances later in the year.
Local Invicta athlete Abel Tsegay is aiming for an unprecedented sixth victory, having won the race for five consecutive years and will surely prove tough opposition for all the runners taking part.
As well as providing sponsorship for the race, eight members of the Pentland team will be running together, with the aim of raising money for Pilgrims Hospices.
