The townhouse that ticks all the boxes-contemporary living in the countryside!

 

Having spent 30 years in their much-loved bungalow, it was going to take something spectacular to make Helen Ayers (57) and her husband Graham (59) want to move from their home. For both Helen and Graham, the moment came when they fell in love with Lydden Hills, a new development by leading Kent developer Pentland Homes. Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lydden Hills offers a selection of thirty-one three and four-bedroom homes, which all feature distinctive modern architecture and uninterrupted views of the rolling hills of the North Downs.

We were very happy in our home and over the years had spent time and money extending the property, to make it look exactly how we wanted, so we both knew if we were to move it would have to be for something that ticked all the boxes and had the ‘wow’ factor”

Having lived in the Whitfield area for over 30 years, Helen and Graham were fairly local to Lydden and noticed with keen interest when the development started to unfold. In January 2021 they reached out to Pentland Homes to find out more about the properties on offer, as they had been very impressed by what they had seen being constructed.

A new build property was something that really appealed to us, but it was about finding the right one, we were looking for something really contemporary that also had a rural feel. When we viewed the Lydden Hills drawings and specifications we were blown away. The properties were modern and stylish, with incredible views, gorgeous floor to ceiling windows allowing natural light to flood in and so much space throughout. We also loved the fact it was a small development in a village environment. With two large dogs in tow, it was vital that the property had great walking routes close by and space for our adult sons to come and stay. Lydden Hills ticked all the boxes”

After viewing the drawings and specifications, Helen and Graham decided immediately to secure one of the three bed townhouses off plan, as they were very aware that they needed to be quick to secure the plot they wanted.

At that point, as their bungalow was not even on the market, Helen and Graham decided to take advantage of the Pentland ‘Help to Sell’ scheme. The Pentland team organised two estate agents in the area to undertake the sale. Within five days of it being on the market, the bungalow had sold.

The help to sell scheme is great and the team did a fantastic job with pictures and videos to help market our property. We were slightly worried that we had agreed to buy a property without having even placed ours on the market, but the scheme worked really well and took all the hassle out of that side of things. Pentland also paid the agents commission which saved us a considerable amount of money”

Helen and Graham moved into their new property late October 2021, having watched the build progress through regular visits to the site.

Having not really been able to see the finished product until literally moving in, we were absolutely thrilled when we finally picked up the keys. The house did not disappoint. It is wonderful to have two living rooms and also a study, we both work from home and before the move we had to use one of the bedrooms as our office. We are going to make the top floor our guest floor, as it has a lovely ensuite so family and friends can stay and have their own personal space. We love the attention to detail and the high specification of all the appliances. The matt black fixtures and fittings throughout, particularly in the utility, bathroom and ensuites adds a real sense of contemporary luxury”.

Their house is everything they dreamed of and more, with a landscaped low maintenance garden, which Graham particularly loves, and a separate terrace on the middle floor, from which to enjoy the breath-taking views with a glass of wine or a large gin and tonic.

The couple plan to stay at Lydden for the foreseeable future, enjoying contemporary living in a gorgeous rural setting with, The Lydden Bell a fantastic gastro pub just a short (5 minutes) stroll away.
